Program Introduction
Have you ever wondered how state-market relations in Europe have been
evolving over time and how the process of European Integration affects
these relations and the continent’s place in the world? In this program,
we offer a historically grounded, multidisciplinary analysis of these
questions. Academics and policy experts from across Europe and beyond
teach courses that will equip you with a thorough understanding of the
economic, political and institutional dynamics that shape Europe, the
European Union, its member states and today’s world.The curriculum comprises core courses on the foundations of political
economy and specialist courses on a wide range of relevant themes. The
latter include monetary integration, welfare states, labour markets,
finance, inequality, varieties of capitalism, migration, European
policymaking and governance, and global trade governance. A further
distinctive feature of the programme is optional courses on identity,
ethnicity and society, and selected regions. The European Institute also
offers a vibrant programme of events, including guest lectures by
leaders from business, politics and European civil society.
